Main characteristics of motor oils with BMW Longlife-04 specification

BMW Longlife-04 motor oils are low SAPS lubricants, designed for use on vehicles equipped with particulate filters and catalytic converters. They have been available since 2004. Their properties meet the requirements of the ACEA A3 class.

• These lubricants are suitable for most modern BMW diesel engines. In EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, and Liechtenstein their use is allowed for most petrol engines, apart from the S54 and S62, but only if high-quality fuel is used.
• The high-temperature viscosity of BMW Longlife-04 motor oils is above 3.5 mPa·s, thanks to which they form a durable oil film and ensure reliable engine protection even at high RPMs.
• Low SAPS (less than 0.8%) with minimal phosphorus (≤0.09%) and sulphur content (≤0.3%) ensure engine cleanliness, prevent formation of carbon deposits, and prevent clogging of the catalytic converter and particulate filter.
• Motor oils of BMW Longlife-04 specification usually have 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30 or 5W-40 viscosity. They are typically synthetic-based lubricants.
• Most drivers prefer Castrol Magnatec 5W-40 C3, Mobil Super 3000 XE, Liqui Moly Top Tec 4200, Total Quartz INEO MC3, and some other products.
