Isuzu AscenderThe production run of the Isuzu Ascender five-door off-road vehicles continued from 2003 to 2008. A single generation of the car has been presented. The cars were assembled in the US.
Isuzu Ascender creation historyThe debut of the Isuzu Ascender took place at the 2002 International North American Auto Show. The development was conducted by the engineers and designers of General Motors, an automobile concern that holds 51% of the Isuzu company. The new vehicle was aimed, primarily, at the US market.
The Isuzu Ascender off-road vehicles looked stylish and solid, in no small measure due to their large headlights, massive radiator grille and wide moldings. The square wheel arches had plastic plating that was dyed to match the bumper. Chrome insets were used to decorate the exterior. The radiator grille was also finished with chrome.
The Isuzu Ascender cars had a spacious and comfortable passenger compartment. Imitation wood panels were used to trim the central console, and the more expensive packages had leather seats upholstery. The main function buttons were placed, to take comfort further up a notch, on the door armrest at the driver’s side. The seats had headrests, and provided decent lateral support.
The Isuzu Ascender were supplied on long and short wheel bases. The seven-seat off-road vehicle was called Isuzu Ascender LWB, the five-seats one - Isuzu Ascender SWB. The rear seats could be collapsed to be level with the floor, considerably increasing the volume of the luggage compartment. In the seven-seats cars, the second row of seats could also be collapsed, making the boarding of passengers easier. The most expensive package - Limited - contained six safety airbags, a sunroof, railings, CD-changer, Bose audio-system, seat heater, ABS system and more.
The production of Isuzu Ascender off-road vehicles lasted until 2008.
Isuzu Ascender on various marketsThe Isuzu Ascender has a twin car - GMC Envoy XL.
