Ferrari 458Production of Ferrari 458 was carried out from 2009 to 2015 at the plant in Maranello, Italy. Michael Schumacher participated in the creation of the car as the consultant.
History of Ferrari 458 creationThe presentation of Ferrari 458 took place in the autumn of 2009 at the Frankfurt motor show, and sales of the car began in 2010. The design of the car was created by the Italian studio Pininfarina. The car was released in a body of a coupe (Berlinetta) and a roadster (Spider).
The front optics was settled down in the large fairings giving to the frontal projection of Ferrari 458 predatory lines. Headlights had the original form. On the front bumper there were stylish air inlets providing extra tracking force at the high speeds. The back optics was located in an upper part of the bumper and was combined with semi transparent niches.
The framework of Ferrari 458 cars was produced from the aluminum alloy which is used in the aerospace industry. The car had excellent aerodynamics of the body. The drag coefficient of the model made 0,33.
The design of the front independent suspension was based on the double transversal levers. The back independent spring suspension of the car was executed according to the multilever scheme.
When developing Ferrari 458, designers used the packaging scheme, traditional for models of the company. The engine was settled down in the central part, transmission — in the tail of the body. The car was rear-wheel drive.
To increase the safety level and to improve of ergonomics, basic elements of control of various systems of the car were settled down on the steering wheel. Devices were located in deep niches on the dashboard. The car was equipped with seats with elaborated side support. Finishing of the passenger compartment was traditionally made of genuine leather.
In 2015 production of the car was stopped. The Ferrari 488 model representing great modernization of Ferrari 458 (more than 80% of the elements were renewed) went on sale.
