Daihatsu MiraThe production of the Daihatsu Mira began in 1980 and continues to date. The assembly lines are located in Japan, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Daihatsu Mira between 1980-1998In 1980 the company began the production of the first generation of Daihatsu Mira. The car was offered in van and three and five-door hatchback bodies. Three passenger seats have been installed in the hatchbacks’ cabin.
The car had a front-wheel drive. A part of the series was produced with a four-wheel drive. The engine was placed in the front part of Daihatsu Mira L5’s body.
1985 was the year when the second generation of the model - Daihatsu Mira L70 - entered production. The car was produced in the same bodies. Since 1986, vans entered the body lineup. The model received new, economical power units.
The third generation entered the market in 1990. The passenger compartment of the Daihatsu Mira L200 became more spacious and comfortable. Engineers have also drastically improved the car’s passive defense against lateral impacts.
In 1994, the production of the model’s fourth generation - Daihatsu Mira L500 - began. The developers have markedly improved the exterior design, and equipped the car with an engine control module. Since 1997, certain cars were equipped with a safety airbag for the driver, power windows, power side-view mirrors and a central locking device.
Daihatsu Mira L700The production of the fifth generation of Daihatsu Mira began in 1998. The basic package of the car counted among its features safety belt pretensioners and front safety airbags for the driver and the passenger.
As extra options, power windows, ABS, an air conditioning system, power side-view mirrors and hydraulic power steering were offered.
Daihatsu Mira L250In 2002, the production of the sixth generation of Daihatsu Mira began. The manufacturer has brought the engines of the model up to par with the Euro IV ecological standard.
Daihatsu Mira L250’s basic package has been supplemented with a height-adjustable steering column. For an additional fee, height-adjustable seats, side safety airbags and a remote-controlled central locking device could be installed.

As extra options, leather seats, power windows, power side-view mirrors, rear speakers, cast wheel discs, seven safety airbags and a cruise-control system were offered.
The front bumper of the car had small air intakes integrated into it, which were placed at each side of the U-shaped radiator grille. The rear lights of the Daihatsu Mira were aggregated in two massive vertical units. A third brake light was placed at the base of the back door.
Daihatsu Mira on various marketsIn 1983, Daihatsu Mira Turbo was manufactured specifically for the Japanese domestic market. The first generation model, in a van body, was also sold as Daihatsu Cuore.
The second generation of the model was known in several countries as Daihatsu Domino, and in the Philippines - as Norkis Legacy. In Thailand, Daihatsu Mira L70 was sold under the name of Daihatsu Miracab in a pick-up truck variation.
The third generation of the model was known in Australia as Daihatsu Handivan. In the Great Britain and South Africa the sixth and seventh generations of the model were sold as Daihatsu Charade.
