Characteristics of SAE 10W-50 motor oil
- SAE 10W-50 motor oil is a high-viscous lubricant designed for power units installed on motorcycles and sports cars.
- This lubricant can be used in all seasons, as indicated by the letter W in its marking. In winter it is efficient at temperatures above −25 °C: at such values, the oil remains sufficiently fluid to start the engine. Kinematic viscosity of the product is 16.3–21.9 mm2/s. Dynamic viscosity is at least 3.7 mPa·s. This allows the product to create a strong and shear-resistant oil film on the surfaces of engine parts, thus ensuring efficient protection when the power unit is working under high loads.
- Most products of this category are semi- or fully-synthetic. They feature high resistance to oxidation and low evaporation loss.
- Some types of products with this viscosity are compatible with fuel that has a high content of sulphur and resins. Even under such conditions, these oils ensure cleanliness and high level of protection for the engine.
