Info on SAAB 95 Station Wagon model - the right selection of spare parts
Saab 95Saab 95 is the three-door seven-seater station wagon produced by the Swedish company from 1959 to 1978. In total, 110 527 cars were released. The Saab 95 Van van without rear seats and side rear windows was exported to some countries (Denmark, Norway). In 1961 Erik Karlsson piloting Saab 95 took the fourth place on rally of Monte Carlo.
Saab 95 I generationThe Saab company presented new model in May, 1959. Saab 95 was a combination from components of various cars. For example, the engine was borrowed from Saab 96 which was just ready for release and wasn't even presented. So-called suicide doors (doors with rearhinged fastening to the body) and transmission were taken from Saab 93. Exterior of the model corresponded to the spirit of its time: rectangular radiator grill, round headlights, set of the chromeplated elements, the V-shaped hood.
Production of cars began in autumn of 1959. Only 55 copies of station wagon were manufactured by the end of the year therefore the year of 1960 is frequently called the beginning of production. The Saab 95 cars had the great success from the first release.
In 1960 station wagons had roof spoiler directing an air stream to the rear screen and thus protecting it from a pollution. Standard oar doors were established on the cars, rear windows, used to be fixed, began to open. In a year seat belts appeared in interior of Saab 95. The Saab 95 cars were capable to transport 500 kg of baggage, the trunk volume could vary due to folding of rear seats.
In 1963 the innovative dual brake system with diagonal division of lines, helping the driver to cope with drifts, was installed on the Saab 95 model. In 1967 Sweden was the last country from the continental Europe that have changed from left-side to right-hand traffic therefore in 1966 the Saab 95 cars received the head optics adapted to the new traffic conditions.
Saab 95 I generation restylingIn 1969 the Saab 95 cars received a number of changes. Head lights became square, there was a new chromeplated radiator grille. Direction indicators were moved on the front fenders for the best visibility. Also there were a power steering and head restraints on seats. The available colour palette for colouring of the body was enlarged.
Since 1976 the Saab 95 cars were not equipped with rear folding seats and became five-seater. In 1978 a production of the model was stopped.
