Lancia Voyager

Lancia Voyager is the seven-seater minivan, which in fact is restyling of the fifth generation of the Chrysler Voyager model for the European market. It is produced since 2011.

History of Lancia Voyager creation

Lancia Voyager is considered to be the successor of Lancia Phedra minivan though it has nothing in common with this model. In 2011 in the USA major restyling of the fifth generation of Chrysler Voyager took place, in March the car was shown at the Geneva motor show. Since October, 2011, it went on sale in the European market, without any changes, except for replacement of Chrysler logo by Lancia one.

Lancia Voyager cars are considered to be the largest minivans in Europe, it is 5220 mm in length and 2000 mm in width. The considerable sizes provide a high level of comfort for passengers, however reduce the speed and maneuverability of the vehicle. At operation in city conditions, there can be difficulties in parking and crowded streets, but the lengthy trips on Lancia Voyager are a pleasure: space and convenience, soft suspension, excellent noise isolation of the passenger compartment. High seats and a large windscreen provide the excellent visibility to the driver.

Price of minivans was quite high, but justified: equipment of Lancia Voyager is capable to surprise any motorist pleasantly. Comfortable leather seats with heating (except the third row), three-zonal climate control, fog lights and tinted rear window are included in the basic package. For an additional fee it is possible to install two liquid crystal TVs for passengers of rear seats, which are mounted into the ceiling.

The front panel looked impressive thanks to glossy inserts and the chrome elements. The arrangement of instruments is standard, except for the gear shift lever: it is placed near the steering wheel. In boot volume, Lancia Voyager also has no competitors: even with the third row of seats there are 934 litres for cargo. Seats of two back rows could be quickly folded on the floor level if necessary, at the same time the volume of the luggage compartment reaches 4000 litres, and the minivan can be used as a small van. A low door step (640 mm from the ground) and a wide square door provide comfortable boarding. The tailgate is equipped with the electric drive and could be opened by a simple pressing of the button. In the passenger compartment there is also a set of niches for small objects, including two sections in the floor in front of seats of the middle row.

Having passed Euro NCAP crash tests, the Lancia Voyager minivan received only 4 stars from 5 possible, despite existence of air bags even for passengers of the last row of seats, and also active hood for protection of pedestrians: at collision the hood rises instantly and acts as the shock-absorber, protecting the pedestrian from injury.

Lancia Voyager in the markets of the different countries

Under the name of Lancia Voyager the minivan is on sale only in the territory of continental Europe. In the markets where the Lancia brand is not presented (Great Britain, Ireland, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, China), the car was sold as Chrysler Voyager.
