Suzuki Carry 1961–2013In 1961, the production of two-door Suzulight Carry FB/ FBD pickups started. Despite the fact that it was Suzuki that produced the new cars, they were sold as Suzulight. This was to emphasize identity of the model as a K- car, also referred to as Light Cars.
Starting from September, 1964, three-door and four-door vans became available. The distinctive feature of the exterior design of the first cars was round headlights that were part of a single unit with the wide rectangular radiator grill, and rear view mirrors on the hood.
June 1965 saw the release of second generation Suzulight Carry L20. The model got independent front suspension. Canvas top pickup trucks became available.
In 1966-1969, third generation Suzuki Carry L30 was produced. The cars were first sold as Suzuki. Canvas top pickup trucks called Suzuki Carry L30H continued to be produced. Suzuki Carry L31 pickup trucks with drop sides were also available. In March of 1968, Suzuki Carry L30V four-door vans became available.
From 1969 to 1972, fourth generation Suzuki Carry L40 were produced. The model was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The van got two side doors. The characteristic feature of the exterior was shortened hood line, continued by the massive windshield. Round headlights were replaced by rectangular ones.
From 1972 to 1976, fifth generation pickups and five-door vans were produced. Unlike its predecessor, Suzuki Carry L50 had new front doors without vent windows. Headlights were made round-shaped. Redesigned Suzuki Carry L50VF vans were fitted with sliding side doors.
In 1976, Suzuki Carry L50 was replaced by Suzuki Carry ST10. The car got a more massive front bumper. In September 1976, Suzuki Carry ST20 pick-up trucks with extended wheelbase became available.
In March 1979, seventh-generation Suzuki Carry ST30/40/90 saw its debut. In the new car, the engine was located under the front seat.
Cars of the eighth generation were produced from 1985 to 1991. In addition to pick-up trucks and five-door wagons, five-door vans were also produced.
In March 1990, the eighth generation was restyled. As a result, the car got updated design and more powerful engines.
In September 1991, the ninth generation model was shown. The exterior of the car featured narrow rectangular headlights.
In January 1999, the production of the tenth generation started. The outline of the car became more dynamic. Front optics was modified.
Suzuki Carry XI generationSince 2013, pickups of the eleventh generation have been produced. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions are available. The maximum load capacity of the vehicle is 350 kg.
