Production of the Hyundai Santamo minivans began in 1996 and continued till 2002. The assembly of cars was carried out at factory in Ulsan, South Korea.

In 1996 the company arranged production of the Hyundai Santamo model. The car was developed on the basis of the second generation of Mitsubishi Space Wagon. Four passenger seats were provided in the interior. Also minivans with the third row of seats and two additional passenger seats were designed.

The engine located in the front part of the body. The Hyundai Santamo cars had a front-wheel drive, but some copies were produced as four-wheel.

The car had front independent and rear semi-independent suspenders with hydraulic shock absorbers of double action. Front wheels of Hyundai Santamo were equipped with the ventilated disc brakes, and rear wheels — with brakes of drum type.

The car didn't differ in original design, but it was compensated partly by massive stylish plastic bumpers with the integrated turn indicators. Between wide rectangular headlights there was a large black radiator grille with the chromeplated fringing in the top part and logo of the company in the center.

On the side doors of the car there were wide moldings. Door handles were painted in the colour of the body. At the base of the rear door there was a small spoiler with the third stoplight. The rear optics of a car was assembled in the single wide block.

The volume of a baggage compartment of the car made 210 liters. The second and the third rows of seats could be shifted if necessary, and also partially or completely folded. Production of the Hyundai Santamo model was stopped in 2002.

The car was almost the exact copy of Mitsubishi Space Wagon UF. In Germany the car was sold under the name of Hyundai Starex, and in France — under the name of Hyundai Satellite.
