Production of the Hyundai H-1 model continues since 1997 till present time. Cars are assembled in South Korea, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey.

The first generation of the model was being produced till 2004. The Hyundai H-1 A1 model was constructed on the basis of Mitsubishi Delica and was manufactured in bodies of the minivan, microbus and the van. From 2000 to 2007 the pickups called Hyundai Libero were also produced.

Passenger cars differed from each other in length of wheelbase. Cars with length of wheelbase of 3 080 mm were called Hyundai H-1 Jumbo and had twelve seats. Hyundai H-1 RV cars with seven or nine seats were also being sold. The wheelbase of these cars reached 2 810 mm in length.

The additional air intake on the cowl became the special feature of the model. The chrome-plated radiator grill was included in the top Club modification. As an additional option, the double hatch in the roof was offered.

Safety was ensured by the limited-slip differential system (LSD), anti-lock braking system (ABS) and side airbags for the driver.

In 2004 the Hyundai H-1 A1 model was subjected to restyling. Both vans, and microbuses received the restyled exterior. Changes affected the front bumper, head optics, the cowl and the air intake. The van had the wider radiator grill.

In 2007 at the International Motor Show in Seoul the Hyundai H-1 TQ model was presented. The silhouette of the car of the second generation became more stylish. From the predecessor the car was distinguished by the swaging lines on the front and the back side panels, and also modern optics. The system of stabilization (ESP) was included in the top modification.

Hyundai H-1 is the European name of the Hyundai Starex model of the first generation. In the Netherlands these cars were called Hyundai H200. Commercial Hyundai Starex cars of the second generation in the Australian and British markets are known as Hyundai iLoad.

Passenger cars in Australia are called Hyundai iMax, and in Great Britain — Hyundai i800. In the Netherlands the second generation of the model is called Hyundai H300. For the market of Malaysia, the top modifications of Grand Starex Royale model are released. In the list of basic options of these cars there are the DVD player and the seven-inch LCD screen.
