The producer positioned the Renault 10 model as the family vehicle. Release of the model was carried out at plants in Europe, Africa, the South and North America from 1965 to 1971.

The serial Renault 10 model was presented in September, 1965. The car was the extended and improved variant of Renault 8. The car was made only in a sedan body.

The design of the car was original and rather progressive for that time. The front round headlights, chrome plated bumper and the logo of the producer were the most noticeable elements of the nose of the body. The radiator grille was absent as the engine settled down at the rear part. There was a thin chrome plated moulding on the side part of a body.

Renault 10 differed in compactness because of which the compartment turned out to be cramped. The producer used the simplest materials for finishing of elements of an interior. Smoothness of the course was provided by a soft independent spring suspension with shock-absorbers of hydraulic type and stabilizers of lateral stability.

The producer equipped front and rear wheels of Renault 10 with disk brakes, but in the USA the cars were released with drum brakes.

The front arrangement of a luggage carrier ensured the popularity at the French cinematographers. Configuration of the car gave the chance to shoot scenes in a car interior from the front foreshortening even during the movement. Also the car was used in motorsport.

In 1967 the company changed the design of an exterior of a car. The car got squared headlights of a driving beam with the rounded corners, and new direction indicators also. The dashboard was replaced and the design of backs of chairs was improved. The producer used better materials for the compartment finishing. Production of this model was stopped in October, 1971.
