Release of the Volvo S90 sedans was launched in 1996 and is carried out to date. Two generations of the model are presented. The Volvo S90 cars are produced at the factory in Sweden.

The second generation of Volvo S90 car debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2016. These vehicles are based on a SPA platform, which should become general for all of Volvo cars. The car received a bright and modern design. Headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights in the form of an inverted "T" effectively stood out in the front of the car. The flowing lines of the body, relief sidewalls, and strongly inclined pillars provided a sporty look to the car’s exterior.

Expensive wood species and a high quality leather were used for interior decoration. A multi-functional 9-inch digital display was mounted instead of the control buttons on the center console. Engineers equipped the Volvo S90 cars with the latest technology of their own design - a large animal detection system, which not only detects the presence of animals on the road, but also anticipates their future behavior. Second-generation vehicles are also equipped with a traffic sign recognition system, a lane assist system, a collision avoidance system, an adaptive cruise control, Pilot Assist system, which provides a semi-autonomous motion at speeds up to 130 km / h.
