Nissan Silvia production was performed in 1964-2002. During this period seven generations and one facelift were presented. Manufacturing was established in Japan.

Nissan Silvia CSP311 debuted in 1964 at the Tokyo Motor Show. Five generations of this model were manufactured till 1994. Count Albrecht Graf Goertz from Germany was the head of developers. Main distinctive features were an angular body shape, a long hood, opened radiator grille, wide wheel arches with big wheels, thin bumpers. All these details were taken from earlier Goertz projects.

The first-generation models came in limited series – about 554 cars were produced. These cars were manually assembled and cost almost twice as Nissan Sylvia of the second generation.

Nissan Silvia S1 of the second generation were been manufactured in 1975-1979. Cars were built on a new Nissan S platform and . Nissan Silvia S10 were available not only in Japan but also exported to the USA.

Nissan Silvia of the third generation (S110) cars had more modern look than previous ones. Round headlights were replaced by double square lights. Narrow radiator grill was decorated with chrome inserts. Mirrors were installed on a hood, closer to headlights. 3-door hatchback was added to models list. Nissan Silvia S110 was being manufactured during 1979-1985 period.

In 1984-1989 the fourth generation of Nissan Silvia (S12) was produced. Distinctive features were headlights sank into hood. Side mirrors were integrated into front pillars.

The fifth generation of Nissan Silvia was presented by coupes and convertibles. Nissan Silvia S13 was being produced in 1988-1993. These cars got a stylish and modern design. Narrow headlights perfectly went with a lateral stamping on a hood. Body became more streamline.

The sixth generation of Nissan Silvia debuted in 1993 on the Japanese market. Car became lower and wider than its predecessor. Main accent in an interior design was placed on smooth lines and shapes. Narrow headlights had smoothed corners. Taillights were made in such way that they looked like a solid construction. Fabric and plastics were used in the interior. Sport seats were notable for a good lateral support. Nissan Silvia S14 cars were available in coupe version. The sixth-generation cars were produced till 1996.

In 1996 Honda Silvia S14 restyling was performed. Car got a new bumper, fenders, a hood lid, skewed headlights, and a trapezoid-shape radiator grill. Interior was updated insignificantly. Hood lid was decorated with V-shaped stamping.

Seventh Nissan Silvia generation was being manufactured in 1999-2002. Developers improved technical characteristics and upgraded design. It was decided to withdraw excessive exterior smoothness: sharp lines and smooth shapes were perfectly balanced in a car exterior. Nissan Silvia S15 was officially delivered on markets of Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
