Honda CityHonda City production started in 1981 and still continues. Manufacturing is established at factories in Argentina, Brazil, Japan, China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey and Philippines.
Honda City 1981–2002In 1981 first Honda City generation production started. Car was built as 3-door hatchback, and in 1982 two-door convertible came to market. The car got a front wheel drive and an engine was mounted in the front part. A wheel-base was 2220 mm.
In 1986 company started second generation production – Honda City GA1. It came as 3-door hatchback only. Wheelbase was 2400 mm. After a power plant modernization in 1989 a car was known under the name of Honda City GA2.
Third generation of Honda City (SX8) entered the market in 1996. A car was developed on 3A2/3A3 chassis, common with legendary Honda Civic. Only sedan body was available. Wheelbase of new Honda City was 2500 mm.
Honda City GD8/GD9The presentation of fourth Honda City generation took place in Thailand in autumn 2002. Car got more modern design and more a economic power plant. Weight didn’t change – 1190 kg. Wheelbase of Honda City GD8/GD9 was decreased by 50 mm in comparison with third generation model.
