Citroën C6 was produced in 2005-2012. The business class model was positioned as more stylish alternative of Audi A6 or Mercedes-Benz E class. Citroën C6 became the first car which was serially equipped with Active Hood system. In 2005 this model for the first time in the world had four stars for pedestrian safety according the Euro NCAP tests. Release of Citroën C6 cars was organized in Rennes, France. In Japan the model was recognized as the best import car of 2006.

The Citroën C6 Lignage concept car was shown in 1999 at the motor show in Geneva. The car had to replace Citroën XM in a model range and became a new leader of the French corporation. The Citroën C6 stock model debuted in 2005 at the Geneva motor show.

The extravagant and modern design of a new Citroën C6 was borrowed from a conceptual car. Some elements of exterior and interior were used not for decoration only, but also had practical assignment. The concave rear screen allowed to avoid excessive pollution so there was no need to install rear wipers. Also the car was equipped with the back spoiler which was moving forward at the movement at high speed. The expressive line of ceiling smoothly passed into strongly inclined rear roof pillars. Exterior of Citroën C6 was similar to the coupe or a hatchback though actually the car was released in a fastback body.

The system of information projection to the windshield became the interesting and useful decision. By means of the special display located on the dashboard, necessary data were reflected in a windshield at the level of the driver's eyes. It allowed to check necessary information, without distracting to the road. Xenon headlights moved the light according to the turn of the steering wheel. The road clearance had electronic adjustment. The interior of the passenger compartment was trimmed with leather, suede and wood.

Citroën C6 had a rich package and exclusive design. The president of France Jacques René Chirac used this car as an official car before the stock production started. In 2012 release of the Citroën C6 model was stopped.
