The Mode-2 charging cable is used to charge electric vehicles on common household plug systems. The Mode-2 charging cable's integrated In-Cable Control- and Protection Device permanently controls the protective conductor connection and conveys the upper charging current limit to the vehicle. The temperature management prevents either the protection device or the wall-mounted socket from overheating. In addition, an incorrect wiring of the socket can be recognised, as well as a burnt-out or worn relay. In the event of a fault, the charging process is stopped immediately to protect the user and the electric vehicle.
