Before replacing the headlight, carefully read the user manual of the VW Golf V Hatchback (1K1) vehicle, and try to estimate complexity of work, based on your skills and experience. Only if you are self-confident, you can start replacing the component yourself.

Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Any work with car electrics requires utmost caution.

Unplug the wire connectors from lighting equipment. Inspect the terminal blocks. If necessary, clean the contacts and replace defective components. Also don't forget to check reliability of contact of the negative wire going from the headlamp housing to the car body.

To unscrew rusty bolts, spray special agent on their surface. Wait a few minutes and try removing the fasteners with a wrench of the appropriate diameter.
