Remove dirt from the mounting seat for the gasket, and then de-oil it using gasoline or special agent. Thus you will ensure tight adherence of the sealing element after installation.

Insert the gasket into the groove in the cover. Make sure that it is laid evenly and doesn’t fall out from the groove, otherwise the required tightness between connections won’t be reached.

Tighten the cover fastening bolts using a torque wrench. Excessively high torque can lead to damaging of the fasteners and the sealing element itself, which is fraught with oil leakage. Insufficient tightening torque also doesn’t ensure reliable pressurization.

Apply sealing compound on the connection between the gasket and the cylinder head only in case if such possibility is noted in the VW Golf V Hatchback (1K1) car technical documentation. The compound is applied by thin layer, so as not to violate tight fit of the part.

Check the level of oil in the engine lubrication system of the VW Golf V Hatchback (1K1) car and top it up by necessity. Significant amount of lubricant can leak out because of non-hermetic cylinder head cover gasket.
