Volvo V90 Estate cars’ production has been held since 1996 till nowadays. There are two generations of the model presented for today. The cars’ production is set in Sweden.

The Volvo V90 Estate cars’ production started in 1996. The model came to replace Volvo 960 station wagon car. From the predecessor that car has inherited technical peculiarities and a design. In fact, Volvo V90 Estate was a restyling of Volvo 960, which got a new index after modernization.

The design of Volvo V90 Estate was developed under Jan Wilsgaard’s leading. The car had an angular body, rectangular headlights, original radiator grille and wide wheel arches. Moldings, bumpers, exterior mirrors’ cases and b-pillars were painted in body color. A long bonnet was decorated with a lengthways power bulge. Spacious cabin differed in its comfort and ergonomics. Anatomic seats were trimmed with leather. Natural wooden inserts were used for the trimming of a dashboard, central console and central tube, steering wheel and door panels. The basic package of the Volvo V90 Estate consisted of a hydraulic power steering, an anti-lock braking system, front airbags, disc brakes for all wheels, an air conditioner. It was possible to order two individual seats with heating and adjustments instead of backseat for an additional fee.

The first-generation estate cars were being produced till 1998.

The second-generation Volvo V90 estate cars’ debut was held at the Motor Show in Geneva in 2016. These cars have little in common with the first-generation cars. The model of 2016 was built on SPA platform, which Volvo S90 sedan and Volvo XC90 crossover were constructed on.

Design of the car was stylish and recognizable. Lifted back part and rushing lines of a body made a car’s exterior more dynamic. Headlights with T-shaped LED inserts (in auto magazines often mentioned as “Thor’s hammers”), concave radiator grille in a chrome trim ring and relief power bulge on the bonnet outstand tellingly in the front part. Taillights were made in boomerang shape: top part of lamps was integrated into body pillars, and bottom part overlapped a boot lid. High quality materials, such as leather and wood, were used in a cabin trim.

Volvo V90 estate cars are furnished with a variety of modern systems. The cars are equipped with a cruise-control system, a collision avoidance system with a big animals recognition function, a Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, lanes and road signs recognition control system, a driver’s state control system and etc.
