Toyota LiteAce is the commercial vehicle produced from 1970 till nowadays. These cars are produced in Japan at the Honsha plant. Five generations and one restyling of the model are released at the moment.

Toyota LiteAce is based on the Toyota XH platform. The cabin was located directly over the engine. The design of the body is developed in one-box style in which the similar discharge angle of a windshield and a hood. Loading capacity of the car of the first generation made 750 kilograms.

Developers created model in three bodies: van, 4-and 5-door minivan. At the same time the minivan was available with different quantity of seats: from three to nine. Nevertheless, the nine-seater minivan did not meet environmental standards of Japan therefore its production was stoped in 1975.

The production of the second generation of the Toyota LiteAce model started in 1979. Engines and the suspension of the car underwent the main changes. Diesel modifications of the car were developed. Besides, designers added a number of additional options.

Toyota LiteAce of the second generation became base for Toyota TownAce cars of the third generation.

In 1985 developers created completely updated model which went to the stock production in 1986. Exterior of Toyota LiteAce was considerably changed: head lights became rectangular, the radiator grille was increased and moved slightly below, the shape of bumpers and wheel arches was changed. The front part of a body became more streamline, acute angles were smoothed.

Designers enlarged trunk a little and increased quantity of available packages. The main changes concerned an interior and the materials in use.

In 1988 designers changed design of the front part of the body a little. Head lights were narrowed, the bumper was increased and the radiator grille was also increased.

The TEMS stabilization system of the movement (Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension) was also added to all packages and the number of diesel modifications was expanded.

The car of the fourth generation was released in 1992. It had the changed dashboard, the anti-lock braking system and an airbag as an extra option. Production of the model was relocated to Hamur's plant, Tokyo, and continued till 1996.

New version of Toyota LiteAce became available in 2008 after long calm in improvement of the model. The car had completely new body which resembled the Daihatsu Gran Max car superficially. The fifth generation of Toyota LiteAce was released in a pickup and a van bodies.

Available engines were considerably improved, the system of gear shift, the suspension and other technical characteristics of the car were improved.

The name Toyota LiteAce was actual for export of the model to the European and American markets. In the domestic Japanese market the car was on sale under the name Daihatsu Delta with some changes.
