Info on SEAT PANDA model - the right selection of spare parts
SEAT PandaThe three-door SEAT Panda hatchbacks were being produced from 1980 to 1986. One generation of the model and one restyled model were there in the market. Cars were produced in Pamplona and Barcelona, Spain.
SEAT Panda I generationThe release of the SEAT Panda hatchbacks started in 1980. The car was the licensed copy of the Fiat Panda model from which it differed in a logo only. The design of the car was developed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The emphasis was placed on the simplicity and functionality. The car had an angular body, rectangular headlights, flat glasses (including front screen) and the interior trimmed with an inexpensive plastic — everything was directed to reduce the production cost as much as possible. The metal radiator grille with the inscription SEAT and vertical cuts, wide plastic mouldings in the body bottom were the distinctive features of exterior.
Because of short body kit it was possible to increase space of interior as much as possible. The low part of the dashboard formed the small shelf for baggage. Seats with a roll bar were rather comfortable. Folding backs allowed to transform seats to a spacious berth. Expensive modifications of SEAT Panda hatchbacks had a heating of a rear screen and a rear window wiper, tinted windows and seats with head restraints. The dashboard was trimmed by fabric, but not plastic.
The SEAT Panda cars differed in a reliability and unpretentiousness service, very capacious interior and low cost therefore enjoyed a popularity among representatives of different age groups. Cars of the first generation were produced till 1983.
In 1982 on the basis of SEAT Panda in honour of a visit of the Pope John Paul II (Latin of Ioannes Paulus II, ital. Giovanni Paolo II) so-called Popemobile was created: the car was used for movement of the pontiff in Spain. Upon termination of this visit, the car was placed in one of the museums of the country.
SEAT Panda I generation restylingIn 1983 restyling of the first generation of SEAT Panda took place. The car had a plastic radiator grille with rectangular cells, the restyled hood with an air intake of different form, new bumpers.
The luxury modification of SEAT Panda Marbella was manufactured the same year. This car differed from other cars in a radiator grill, wheel arches, a company logo plate, design of disks. In interior there were more comfortable seats, and the dashboard was decorated by the digital clock.
SEAT Panda hatchbacks were released till 1986. In 1986 the model was subjected to restyling and renamed into SEAT Marbella.
