Porsche Boxster

Release of Porsche Boxster roadster began in 1996 and continues till present. Four generations and two restylings of the model have been produced.

Porsche Boxster 986

The first generation of Porsche Boxster was produced from 1996 to 2002. The concept car was shown to motorists in 1993 at the auto exhibition in Detroit. When developing design of this car, producers were inspired by the Porsche 550 Spyder and Porsche 356 models. Some believe that release of this model saved the company from bankruptcy.

Exterior of Porsche Boxster cars of the first generation was very attractive. Lines of the body were distinct and dynamic, headlights had the unusual shape so they had mixed responses, both positive and negative.

In the inner trimming use of quality leather prevailed. The passenger compartment was ergonomic, with comfortable seats. The arrangement of displays on the dashboard was compact and was developed in such a way that the driver could read the necessary information as fast as possible.

Porsche Boxster 986 restyling

In 2002 the company carried out the restyling of Porsche Boxster 986. The exterior and the interior of the car were changed. On each side of the car small air inlets were placed. Their shape on the front bumper was changed. Openings appeared in the rear bumper. Side marker lights and exhaust pipe were also remade. Producers added a glove box to the passenger compartment and changed the shape of the steering wheel.

Porsche Boxster 987

The second generation of Porsche Boxster was released from 2004 to 2009. The premiere took place at the motor show in Paris. The car went on sale a year later.

At new Porsches Boxster, the front optics was considerably elaborated; the interior was changed a little. The hardware of the car was renewed.

Porsche Boxster 987 restyling

In 2008 at the international auto show in Los Angeles, the company presented restyling of Porsche Boxster 987. The car optics was renewed again. Also the package was expanded. Designers added PCM system (central control system) with new design and the touch screen as an additional option.

Porsche Boxster 981

The company presented the third generation of Porsche Boxster in 2012. Presentation of the car took place at the exhibition in Geneva. Release of the car continues till present.

Lines of front optics were not changed, but headlights became more prominent. Tail lights became narrower and modern.

The list of basic options included side and front airbags, the ABS system, an immobilizer, the central lock etc. As additional options the owner of a car could order heating of seats, cruise control, parking sensors, CD and a DVD changer etc.

Porsche Boxster 718

The fourth generation of Porsche Boxster 718 was presented in 2016. Besides new serial number, the car had a new design. The front part became visually even wider, thanks to horizontal lines of air inlets. The fenders located above the hood emphasized a new shape of headlights. The increased wheel arches made the exterior of Porsche Boxster 718 more massive and thick.

The rear part of the car was decorated with new stylish headlights, and the horizontal accent stripe located between lights made the part of the car visually wider. As well as the majority of sport cars of the company, new Porsche Boxster 718 was equipped with an automatic retractable spoiler which came into action at a speed of 120 km/h.

The new interior was executed in more sports style. Thanks to the slanted central console, the distance from the steering wheel to the transmission was decreased. The passenger compartment was decorated with a set of the chrome inserts.
