Peugeot BoxerProduction of the Peugeot Boxer commercial vehicle started in 1994 and carries on today. The development and production of the model involved the specialists of Sevel - a joint venture by the French corporation PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Italian concern Fiat Group. Today, two generations of the model were presented. It has also been assembled, over the years, in Italy, France and Russia. In 1995, this car received the Van of the Year award.
Peugeot Boxer I generationThe first generation model was produced from 1994 to 2002. The car made its debut at a commercial Motor Show in Geneva in 1994. Since 1987, its design process involved employees of the Italian company Ital Design under the direction of Giorgretto Giugiaro. As a result, they were able to create a body with a relatively low drag coefficient of 0,35.
Buyers were offered the choice of several options for the cab length and wheelbase size, as well as different bodies: minibuses, vans and combi.
In general, these cars were universal, with good corrosion protection, good technical performance, a high level of comfort and a large list of options.
Peugeot Boxer I generation restylingIn 2002, Peugeot Boxer cars were subjected to restyling. The new cars have an updated grille, front bumpers and fenders, and a replaced hood cover. Door handles and lighting elements have been updated. At wheel level, protective moldings have been installed on the sides of the car. Rear bumpers acquired a rounded shape and the lights got integrated air intakes.
Peugeot Boxer II generationThe second generation model was presented in 2006. The design of the new car was developed by Italian specialists from the Fiat Centro Style. Peugeot Boxer II received an integrated into the massive bumper U-shaped radiator grille, a shortened hood and a large windshield with a low glass line. On the sides of the car, wide wheel arches stood and narrow rear bumper had a landing stage. Soft, high quality plastic was used for trimming. A chassis option was added to the bodies lineup.
There was a significantly expansion to the list of options. Standard equipment now includes ABS, power steering, central locking, navigation computer, heated electrical mirrors, retractable table and cup holders. The shift lever was placed in the front panel, and on some systems control buttons were relocated to the steering wheel. The special design of the mirrors - a double plate glass - increased visibility. For an additional fee, a fast lane sensor, a parking assistance system, a rearview camera and ASR traction control system could be ordered.
Peugeot Boxer II generation restylingIn 2014, the second generation of the Peugeot Boxer model was subjected to restyling. The design of the front part of the car has been changed. The radiator grille has been slightly modified, along with daytime running lights becoming LED ones. Inside, new adjustable seats have been installed, and there are additional niches for items storage.
Peugeot Boxer on the market of different countriesThis car is available under different names. In the USA it’s known as RAM Promaster, In Mexico - Peugeot Manager. In Europe, along with the Peugeot Boxer cars, its twins - the Citroen Jumper and the third generation Fiat Ducato - are being produced.
