Info on MG MGF model - the right selection of spare parts
MG MGFThe MG MGF sport car was being released in 1995-2011. The assembly of cars took place on the plants in Longbridge (the UK) and Nanjing (China).
MG MGF I generationThe manufacture of the first-generation MG MGF cars began in 1995. The exterior design team was led by Gerry McGovern. The model was released in a roadster body. There was a single passenger seat in the cabin.
The car had a rear-wheel drive. MG MGF cars were distinguished from the earlier sports models of the company by their central location of the power units. A thin false radiator grille with a nameplate was situated between wide elliptical headlights. Turn indicators were placed under the head optics.
A wide air intake was located on the central part of the front bumper and provided additional downforce and enhanced cooling of front brake discs. Small air intakes were placed in front of rear wheel arches.
The car had a comfortable and spacious cabin. The seats of the MG MGF had advanced lateral support. A shallow niche with large analog devices was situated behind the three-spoke sport steering wheel.
Due to the adjustable air suspension the car had a smooth ride. In Japan the MG MGF model was recognized as the best imported car in 1995 and 1996.
MG MGF I generation restylingIn 1999, the car received new alloy wheels. The manufacturer significantly improved the quality of the interior trim and reviewed the interior design of the first-generation MG MGF cars.
MG MGTF II generationIn 2002 the company began producing the second generation of the model - MG MGTF. The hydragas suspension was replaced with a simplified independent spring suspension. Also the car received a rear luggage compartment, new bumpers, improved optics and renewed radiator grille.
The rigidity of the MG MGTF’s body was increased by 20% by comparison with the first-generation model. According to the results of EuroNCAP and ANCAP crash tests the car received four stars.
In 2005 the MG Rover company was purchased by Nanjing Automobile Corporation. This was the reason for stopping the production of the model. During 2007-2011 the MG MGTF cars were manufactured on the plant in China.
MG MGF on different marketsIn 1998, the company released a limited number of MG MGF Abingdon LE cars. In 2000 MG MGF Wedgewood SE cars were produced, and in 2001 - MG MGF Freestyle SE. In the period from 2001 to 2002, the company released a limited number of MG MGF Trophy 160 SE cars.
