The hood of the car was enlarged significantly and the design in general began to remind that one of the Mercedes-Benz T1. As the company continued parallel release of models of the first generation for a long time, the new car had the Neu designation, and old — Alt one. As an additional option the producer offered anti-lock braking system (ABS).

In 1996 Mercedes-Benz T2 was replaced by more perspective Mercedes-Benz Vario model.
