Today three generations and three restylings of a car are released.
Mercedes-Benz G-class W460/W461The company presented first generation of the Mercedes-Benz G-class in 1979. The blocking differentials and the connected four-wheel drive were intended to increase the passability. The car was released in bodies of a cabriolet, the three-door and five-door ORV.
In 1981 the car began to be equipped with automatic transmission. In 1983 Mercedes-Benz G-Klas W460 280G won the first prize in the Paris-Dakar Rally. Since 1986 the car was equipped with the catalyst converter of exhaust gases. Sales of the model of the first generation came to the end in 1991.
