Production of Mercedes-Benz Citan W415 began in 2012 and continues till present. The car is released in bodies of a minivan and a van. During its creation the Renault Kangoo model was taken as a basis. Production is arranged at the plant of the Renault company in France.

The minivan of Mercedes Citan Kombi W415 debuted at the industrial exhibition in Hanover. It represented the changed French Renault Kangoo car. The only essential difference was quality of the materials used for an inner trimming. Five-seater and seven-seater minivans were available.

Along with a minivan the van of Mercedes-Benz Citan Furgon W415 was presented in 2013. It was released in three modifications which differed from each other in length: 3 937 mm, 4 321 mm and 4 705 mm. The maximum volume of the trunk made 3,1 m ³, and loading capacity equaled 630 kg.

Front suspension of Mercedes-Benz Citan Furgon W415 was equipped with McPherson racks, and the rear one has twist beam. The car was characterized not only by efficient fuel consumption, but also by the minimum volume of the harmful substances released into the atmosphere — full compliance to the Euro-5 standard.

Since 2013 the Intax company offers Mercedes-Benz Citan in any colouring and with a set of additional options, depending on desires of the customer.

In 2012 the German automobile corporation started marketing campaign together with Richard Dean Anderson for advance of Mercedes-Benz Citan — mini series "MacGyver and the New Citan". Shootings took place in the summer of 2012 in South Africa, in the city of Johannesburg.
