Info on JAGUAR S-TYPE model - the right selection of spare parts
Jaguar S-Type
Production of Jaguar S-Type cars was carried out since 1963. In 1968 the company stopped producing the first generation of the model. After a long pause in 1999-2008, Jaguar Cars resumed production of Jaguar S-Type cars. In total, two generations of the model and one restyling were released. Assembly of these cars was carried out in Great Britain.
Jaguar S-Type I generation
The debut of the first generation of Jaguar S-Type sedans took place within the London motor show in October, 1963. The model design was based off of Jaguar Mark 2, differing from it in richer equipment and some system units. Exterior of both cars had much in common: round double headlights, an oval radiator grille, a streamlined silhouette, a power bulge on the bonnet and other elements. Jaguar S-Type, however, was easily distinguishable from Jaguar Mark 2 by a larger rear overhang. In the exterior, a lot of chrome elements were used: the radiator grille, window borders, headlight frames, door handles and mirror caps were all chrome-plated. A distinctive feature of these cars were chrome spoke wheels. The car had a spacious and comfortable passenger compartment. The dashboard was made of wood, and seats were trimmed with leather. The steering column height was adjustable. The central console contained a small sliding table. Jaguar S-Type cars, as well as many modern cars, had button ignition start and cruise control. In 1968, manufacture of the first generation was stopped.
Jaguar S-Type II generation
Cars of the second generation debuted at the 1998 British International Auto Show in Birmingham. Stock production of the cars began the following year. The design of the modern Jaguar S-Type was in many respects borrowed from the predecessor, with round double headlights, an oval radiator grille trimmed with chrome and a bonnet with a power bulge in the forefront. The arched silhouette of the car remained unchanged. In the interior design, leather and wooden inserts were generously used. In expensive packages, the interior was decorated with mahogany inserts.
Already in the basic package of the car there were a dual-zone climate control, a full electric pack, a multifunctional steering wheel and modern electronic systems. The voice-activated control system by Visteon Automotive Systems was an impressive feature: it recognized speech irrespective of dialects and accents, and the driver could speak naturally, without having to make unnatural pauses or using specific key phrases. Cars of this generation were manufactured till 2004.
Jaguar S-Type II generation restyling
In 2004, a restyled second generation Jaguar S-Type was presented. The car received an updated radiator grille, an aluminium bonnet with clearer lines, updated bumpers and rear lights. Jaguars S-Type II were produced till 2008.
