Production of Hyundai ix20 began in 2010 and continues till nowadays. For this period one generation and one restyling of the model were presented in the market. Hyundai ix20 has minivan body type. Assembly of cars has been arranged in the Czech city of Noshovitsa.

The world premiere of Hyundai ix20 was held within the Paris Motor Show in 2010. The design was developed by experts from the Hyundai design center in Russelsheim, Germany.

The Hyundai ix20 cars are constructed on the Hyundai-Kia RB platform. Distinctive feature of the interior is the "wedge-shaped" silhouette of the body and the raised rear part. These cars had the best combination of characteristics of the minivan and the crossover. It was equally safe to travel on the Hyundai ix20 model with small children, to maneuver in the traffic city conditions and to drive on the trunks.

The exterior of the car differed in a wide body kit, a hexagonal radiator grill enlarged by fog lights, big block headlights, a rear spoiler.

Inspite of small dimensions, Hyundai ix20 had a capacious baggage compartment which volume increases from 440 to 1486 liters if the seats of the second row were folded.

The passenger compartment was very comfortable for all the passengers. The dashboard was simple and functional — all devices were placed at a convenient distance from a driver. Good visibility which was provided with high seating and a big windshield was characteristic of Hyundai ix20 model.

Six airbags, system of stabilization, Start-Stop system , Bluetooth, audio system, air conditioner, hydraulic power steering were included in a basic modification of the model. During EuroNCAP crash tests, the Hyundai ix20 cars received five stars for safety level.

The panoramic roof, multimedia system with the 6,5 inches screen were provided in the top modification.

In 2015 Hyundai ix20 model was restyled. The updated car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. Developers decorated the front part of the car with new headlights, a wide radiator grill with the chrome-plated plates. The interior was not practically changed.

In the South Korean market Hyundai ix20 was on sale under the name of Hyundai Tucson ix, and Japan motorists knows it as Hyundai JM. The Hyundai ix20 twin car is Kia Venga.
