Info on FIAT PUNTO model - the right selection of spare parts
Fiat PuntoThis compact car of the Italian company FCA Group succeeded the Fiat Uno model. It is released since 1993. In 1995 Fiat Punto of the first generation was recognized as the European car of year. Fiat Punto of the third generation received five stars from EuroNCAP that testifies to reliability and safety of a car. Also in 2005 the model got the "Gold Wheel" award founded by the German Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag editions.
Fiat Punto I generationThe presentation of Fiat Punto took place in 1993 in Turin, the same year the car appeared in the European market, and a year later — outside of Europe. The first generation of Fiat Punto was presented by a three-door and five-door hatchbacks, and a cabriolet. The last had a textile roof with the electric drive which put the roof for a record-breaking short time. It was released till 1999.
High popularity of Fiat Punto cars in Europe in many respects is explained by high efficiency of the model.
Fiat Punto II generationThe second generation of Fiat Punto was presented in 1999 and is dated for celebration of centenary of the Fiat firm. By this time the competition among economic compact hatchbacks in the European market was quite serious, however the updated Fiat Punto could repeat success of the predecessor.
Fiat Punto II exterior practically didn’t differ from that of the first generation, but in the same time it got a new platform and absolutely different passenger compartment. The Italian designers tried to consider all shortcomings of the previous version therefore Fiat Punto became much more reliable. Moreover, the producer increased a body perforation guarantee term to eight years.
Also the engine range was extended, and the conditioner and a possibility of adjustment of a wheel on height appeared in the Fiat Punto II standard package.
Fiat Punto II generation restylingRestyling of Fiat Punto II took place in 2003 and concerned mainly inner trimming — more expensive materials began to be used, the dashboard was changed. The shape of a front grille and front headlights was changed.
As a result of this restyling the basic package of Fiat Punto was extended with the dualdrive electric power steering: in the city mode it took less difficulties to operate the steering wheel. When the speed of the car exceeds 60 km/h, the wheel automatically passes into the “extra urban” mode.
Fiat Punto III generationIn 2005 the presentation of the third generation of Fiat Punto took place in Frankfurt. The new car surpassed the predecessors by the dimensions and could already be considered as the car of absolutely different class. This generation of a car got the name Fiat Grande Punto. In 2009, after restyling, Fiat Grande Punto changed the name and began to be sold as Fiat Punto Evo.
