Chevrolet Corvette is a two-seat sports car produced by General Motors since 1953 in coupe and convertible, roadster and targa. At the moment, the model is represented by the seventh generation. The National Corvette Museum was founded in Kentucky, dedicated to the legendary model.

Initially, the Chevrolet Corvette convertible was created as a show car for the General Motors Motorama auto show in 1953, where it attracted so much attention that led GM to the serial production of the cars. The Chevrolet Corvette C1 cars were subjected to restyling three times: in 1956 ( the outline of the body and the front of the car changed a little), 1958 (the front part was extended, new lights, instrument panel and steering wheel appeared) and 1961 (there was a rear spoiler «duck tail»). The Chevrolet Corvette is the world's first car with a body made of fiberglass.

The second generation model was produced in the years 1963-1967 and in addition to the convertible also offered a coupe and a roadster. The Chevrolet Corvette C2 received Sting Ray addition to the name. The features of the car appearance that could be noted were a tapering rear end, retractable headlights and a split rear window. Chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov resisted such a decision, ​​but designer Bill Mitchell thought that such a rear window solution would be the key feature of the car design.

The third generation Chevrolet Corvette C3 (1968-1982 year) enjoyed great popularity due to a sleek design: David Holls, who worked on the car exterior, joined swollen wheel arches with a line reminiscent of a Coca-Cola bottle curve. Production of convertibles was discontinued in 1975 up to 1986.

The fourth generation Chevrolet Corvette cars (1983-1996) got smoother contours of the body, but the rejection of extravagance was compens ated by excellent aerodynamic data. Besides, the Chevrolet Corvette C4 cars became much more advanced technically.

The Chevrolet Corvette fifth generation (1997-2004) was radically different from its predecessors both externally and in technical terms, and it also became the world's first car with a titanium exhaust system. The international Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International) announced the Chevrolet Corvette C5 convertible of 1999 model year the Best Engineered Car of the 20th century.

The sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette prototypes were shown in Detroit in 2004, shortly after that a convertible and a targa went into mass production. The most noticeable difference from the previous generation was the replacement of retractable headlights for more traditional lights. In 2005, Chevrolet Corvette C6 was named the North American Car of the Year.

In January 2013 in Detroit the seventh generation of the legendary model launch was held in a targa body. Appearance of the novelty is very glamour: a long hood, a road-hugging body, an aggressive looking front, a turned up back with four exhaust system ends and different-sized wheels (front - 285/30 / R19 and rear - 335/25 / R20). Inside the cabin the driver zone is distinguished: a large multi-function steering wheel, a big screen multimedia complex, a bucket seat with magnesium frame.
