Info on CHEVROLET CAMARO model - the right selection of spare parts
Chevrolet CamaroChevrolet Camaro is an iconic sports car, four generations of which were released from 1966 to 2002. In 2009, the production of the model was resumed on another platform. Currently the six generation is produced.
Chevrolet Camaro 1966-1981In the mid-1960s, appearance of the Ford Mustang model exploded the North American market, the model spawned an entire class of cars called a pony car in the United States. General Motors did not immediately appreciated the direct competitor novelty. But realizing that over 100 thousand copies of the Ford Mustang were sold in just two months, the GM executive management required from the staff to develop a car that outclassed the opponent in everything.
After two years of hard work the Chevrolet Camaro (from the French camarade - friend, comrade) was presented at a press preview in Detroit in September 1966, and a few days later - in Los Angeles. In late September, the Chevrolet Camaro cars arrived in dealerships. The model was presented by a four-seater sports coupe and a convertible.
The Chevrolet Camaro cars had a long hood, a small trunk and a set-back cabin. The model’s basic equipment was rather modest. A feature of the Chevrolet Camaro was a great variety of engines and transmissions, adding up to about 18 actuator variations. The first generation was released for three years (1966-1969), constantly being improved. The Chevrolet Camaro of 1969 model year was named the best manufacturer’s car in the company history on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2011.
The second generation model (1970-1981) was presented only by a coupe. The 1970s were a difficult period for the manufacturers of sports cars: first, the newly created Agency for the US Environmental Protection brought down a flurry of requirements on the motor companies, then petrol rose in price several times because of the oil embargo. Despite the hard times, the Chevrolet Camaro did not disappear, as some sports cars of that time, and in 1977 for the first time surpassed the volume of the Ford Mustang sales.
Chevrolet Camaro 1982-2002Distinctive features of the third generation Chevrolet Camaro exterior (1982-1992) were double square-shaped lights, a wide grille, a large number of spoilers. In 1987 production of the Chevrolet Camaro convertibles resumed.
In 1993 production of the fourth generation model began. The body of the sports car became even more elegant and smooth, the design of the car did not change profoundly. The production lasted until 2002, when the General Motors company announced the closure of the plant in Canada, which produced this model, because of the constantly falling demand for the Chevrolet Camaro.
Chevrolet Camaro 2009-2016The fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro concept car was among the exhibits of Detroit Motor Show 2006. Presentation of the production version of the American automotive legend in the coupe was held in Las Vegas in 2008, and a year later the Chevrolet Camaro went on sale. In the autumn of 2011 in Los Angeles the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible was unveiled.
The design of the new Chevrolet Camaro combines the traditions of the 1970s and the current trends in the production of sports cars: a long hood, stubby rear fenders, 20-inch wheels, two outputs of the exhaust system. The car's interior is traditionally laconic.
In May 2015, Detroit saw a launch of the sixth generation model. The Chevrolet Camaro cars became lighter by 90 kg and shorter, while maintaining the brand awareness.
