BMW 1 series is the compact car which is released in Germany. The model is presented in bodies of three - and a five-door hatchback, a coupe and a cabriolet. Thanks to high popularity and stable demand, the model is presented by the second generation already and endured three restylings.

In 2004 the classical five-door hatchback of BMW of 1 series was presented at the Parisian showroom. The model differs from other cars of this class in a rear wheel drive. Besides, the motor is located longitudinally that allows to distribute the weight between front and rear shafts evenly.

Among exhibits of the Geneva showroom of 2007 there was also a three-door hatchback of BMW of 1 series. This body type emphasized dynamism of model more distinctly. In the fall of the same year in Frankfurt the presentation of the first coupe of BMW 1 series took place. The car had an unusual design - extended front and short rear parts were noticeable.

In 2008 the new body of BMW 1 series — a cabriolet - was released. The novelty possessed the unique climatic system which has independently switching modes of behavior at the hoisted and lowered roof. The small size of a baggage compartment was compensated by the hatch in the back row of seats that allowed to transport long subjects.

The second generation of BMW cars 1 series appeared in 2011. First of all updating concerned a five-door hatchback. Having kept the general concept of design, designers gave to the car more aggressive appearance, the inner trim became better and worked in details.

Cars began to be equipped with the latest engines with the revolutionary BMW TwinPower Turbo technology allowing to save fuel and to reduce quantity of harmful exhausts in the atmosphere.

In 2015 the second generation of BMW 1 series underwent restyling. The car looks more solidly thanks to geometrically strict forms of the front part, but it is still known well.

The list of basic options was considerably extended: all the cars, regardless of a complete set, are equipped with the 6,5-inch monitor of multimedia iDrive system now. Such electronic assistants to the driver as BMW ConnectedDrive system and active cruise control with the Stop&Go function are offered as additional options.
