The 7-pin 12 V system in accordance with ISO 3732 (S- type) is an addition to the widely spread 7-pin 12 V system in accordance with ISO 1724 (N-type). The two systems are completely interchangeable using a different centre contact (bush instead of pin or vice versa). The S-type system is used in the agricultural industry among others. Until a few years ago, it was also installed together with the N-type system in British passenger cars and caravans ex works and is still widely spread in this field today.
