Shock absorber dust cover and bump stops Passat 3B6

Replacing dust boots and bump stops of shock absorbers on the VW PASSAT Variant (3B6) vehicle will require dismantling of struts, so contact a service station.

Dust caps and bump stops of shock absorbers should be replaced in pairs, and their replacement is usually combined with installation of new shock absorbers. Even if at first glance it seems that the components are suitable for further use, it is better to replace them: most likely, the service life of the components has expired, and faults will occur in the near future.

To remove the spring when disassembling the shock strut of the VW PASSAT Variant (3B6) vehicle, you will need a special remover. Never compress springs with improvised tools, like ropes or old seatbelts, as in case of accidental release of the spring, there is high risk of injury.
