During installation of the clutch kit on the VW PASSAT Variant (3B6) car it is important to avoid ingress of dust, dirt and oil on the friction linings of the component, as this increases abrasive wear-out of contacting surfaces thus lowering clutch efficiency.
In the process of work, it is very important to control the proper position of the centering arbor, otherwise difficulties can occur at gearbox installation.
If the clutch release bearing has a metal sleeve, its guide should be treated with special greasing compound, and excessive grease is removed. As for plastic sleeve, grease is not necessary. A spline part of the gearbox input shaft also should be greased before installation of the clutch disk.
