Kia SportageKia Sportage production started in 1993 and is still in process. There are 4 generations of this model and 2 facelifts. Car production took place in different countries: South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Ecuador, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Germany. Fourth generation cars are created at Gwangju factory, South Korea.
Kia Sportage JAFirst Kia Sportage generation was produced in 1993-2004. These cars had ring-bridge structure and were crossovers. Exterior was characterized by massive bumper, square lights and wide wheel housings. Driver seat had 4 rigging positions. Basic configuration of these cars was equipped with central lock, power windows, power steering, electric mirrors. 3-door Kia Sportage crossovers and Kia Sportage Cabrio based on this model appeared on Asian market. This car was available in five-door crossover body in Europe.
Kia Sportage KMSecond Kia Sportage generation was presented during Paris Motor Show in 2004. Car differed greatly from its predecessor: it was designed on the platform of Hyundai Tucson and was a crossover. Design of Kia Sportage KM was also renewed: form of lights and radiator grille changed. Car got a new plastic bumper with wide air inlet and wedge-like stamping on the bonnet. Passenger compartment was spacious and ergonomic. Steering column was adjustable up/down. Sunroof, cruise control system and anti-spin regulation (ASR) were available on more expensive configurations. Cars of second generation were produced till 2008.
Kia Sportage KM faceliftKia Sportage KM facelift was presented during Frankfurt Motor Show in 2008. Head- and tail lights, bumpers and radiator grille underwent some changes. Dashboard was renewed. New variants of interior trim appeared. Basic configuration included different additional options.
Kia Sportage SLThird generation cars were presented on Geneva Motor Show in 2010. Car became longer and wider but lower and lighter than its predecessor. Car aerodynamic characteristics were improved. Design changed greatly. Third generation crossovers looked stylish and dynamic: acute-angled headlights and special radiator tiger-nose grille decorated front part. Wide air-inlet and fog lights looked like boomerang made exterior look aggressive. Expensive configurations included leather upholstery.
Kia Sportage SL faceliftThird generation Kia Sportage SL restyling happened in 2014. Car got chromed radiator grille, renewed fog lights and alloy wheels. LED inserts appeared in taillights (they were available as option). These cars are produced nowadays.
Kia Sportage QLFourth Kia Sportage generation (QL) was presented on Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. Car became larger and looked more dynamic. New massive bumper with keystone air inlet and expressive stamping on hood lid appeared. Niches of fog lights were decorated with chromed inserts. This model will appear on Europe markets in 2017.
